Dovetail defines ‘young people’ as individuals aged 12 – 25 years and recognises that different approaches, interventions and resources are required for individuals within certain age cohorts.
Dovetail acknowledges that young people from different backgrounds and experiences may require specialised responses, whilst also asserting that there is a core set of knowledge, skills, values and approaches that apply to all young people regardless of age, gender, culture, ability, class or religion.
Dovetail accepts that young people’s experience of drug and alcohol use varies and needs to be considered within a broad context, including individual, social and environmental factors.
Dovetail has a strong commitment to practice that promotes the active involvement and participation of young people.
Whilst Dovetail is primarily a resource for youth and drug and alcohol sector workers and organisations, wherever possible the project will seek to create opportunities for young people to produce and contribute ideas, content and other material to our activities.
