Dovetail comprises Consortium of equal partners from government and non-government agencies, who bring expertise and experience in the field of youth health service delivery from across Queensland and interstate.

Dovetail has a Management Advisory Group (MAG), the governing body which makes decisions and oversees the implementation of Dovetail’s key deliverables.

Dovetail Consortium and the Dovetail Project Team bring together a range of expertise in youth and drug and alcohol work.

Dovetail is informed by research and consultation with youth and drug and alcohol services both across Queensland and interstate, and will respond to emerging issues and trends identified by the sector.

Dovetail is funded for a 2 year trial period. Recommendations from the trial will inform future directions for Dovetail and an external evaluation will be conducted by Fieldworx

Dovetail’s approach is built around 3 key concepts of identify, connect and equip, that will guide Dovetail’s activities across Queensland.

Dovetail recognises the wealth of knowledge, expertise and good practice that exists in the youth and drug and alcohol sectors and seeks to add value and engender a sense of unity in this work.

Dovetail will engage and support individuals, organisations and networks across the youth and drug and alcohol sector to actively participate in asking important questions and sharing ideas to enable continuous growth in knowledge and wisdom in achieving the sectors vision for young people.

Dovetail acknowledges that drug and alcohol services for young people are provided by a broad and diverse range of services, stakeholders and agencies. The Charter provides an opportunity to identify common ground.

Dovetail aims:

  • Map the youth and drug and alcohol sector
  • Identify, develop and promote good practice
  • Increase opportunities and access to professional development for workers
  • Support and assist improvements in youth and drug and alcohol service delivery
  • Promote collaboration, shared unity and networking
