Target audience: Queensland based workers in any role across healthcare and community settings who are supporting individuals impacted by problematic alcohol and drug (AOD) use.

This one-day workshop explores the effects of different substances on the brain and body, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to support informed decision-making and individualised treatment planning.

Important: To receive a Certificate of Completion for this workshop, participants will need to attend for the full duration of the training. Please ensure your availability prior to registering. 

What will be covered:

  • Understanding the effects of stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens on the brain and body.
  • Assessing neurobiological stages such as intoxication, tolerance, and withdrawal to guide treatment adjustments.
  • Applying knowledge of neurotransmitters impacted by AOD use to create tailored treatment plans.
  • Communicating effectively with people about how substances affect their brain and body to empower informed choices.
